STRUCTURE OF THE TOURNAMENT

There will be one round of battles every Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the Undergrad Lab (SCI 252/254), starting on April 2nd – 30th (5 rounds total).

Each round of battles has three stages:

Stage 1

  • All robots fight against each other in one battle.

Stage 2

  • The first-place robot will fight against the third-place robot in another battle.
  • The second-place robot will fight against the fourth-place robot in another battle.

Stage 3

  • The two champions of stage 2 will fight against each other in the final battle of the day.

Accumulate Points Every Week!

  • Points for each contestant will be determined by the Robocode program at the end of each battle.
  • Accumulated points of all contestants are displayed on the scoreboard, which is located at the start of this page.

Who Wins the Tournament?

  1. The three contestants who accumulate the most number of points over the course of the first four rounds automatically qualify to the Final Round of the tournament.

o The first-place and the second-place contestants will receive certificates and/or prizes for earning the most number of points.

2. During the final day of the tournament, before the Final Round, there will be ONE battle between all the robots that are not qualified to the Final Round.

o The three contestants that accumulate the most number of points in this battle qualify to the Final Round.

3. STRUCTURE OF THE FINAL ROUND (Round #5):

o The Final Round will also have three stages.

o The CHAMPION of the tournament will be the winner of stage 3 (the one who earns the most number of points in stage 3).

 

RULES

 

  • Only one robot per contestant per battle

  • No downloaded robots can compete in the tournament. Contestants can only use the robots they created. Names of competing robots have the format: robotName_FirstLastofCreator.

  • At the beginning of the final round, each contestant will use his/her source code to explain the design of his/her robot (~5 minutes).
